| Who We Are: Meet Owners Jennifer and Paul Breuer |
| |

Paul started Mountain River Tours (later named Adventures Mountain River) because of his love for whitewater paddling and rivers. Jennifer shared this passion too. Paul was the first person to commercially raft the Gauley in 1971 and two years later he founded his company. Adventures Mountain River has set the standards for Gauley River rafting and holds several impressive "firsts". The organization was the first to run Iron Ring Rapid and Sweet's Falls Rapid on the Upper Gauley. Adventures Mountain River also was the first outfitter to require all guests to wear helmets for safety. While Jennifer keeps efficient operations behind-the-scenes, Paul still guides on the New River and Gauley when time allows. If guests have the pleasure of Paul guiding, "it is like experiencing the most beautiful and powerful West Virginia whitewater rivers with living paddling history," according to one recent guest. He has more than 36 years of guide experience. Paul loves being on the river and teaching and sharing his joy for rafting with others.
