The Jensen Historical Farm
The Festival of the American West

Overview

The American West Heritage Center incorporates 137 acres in Cache Valley, Utah, located 90 miles north of Salt Lake City. It is the home of the Jensen Living Historical Farm, the Festival of the American West and the Man and His Bread Museum Collection. The Center is currently implementing expansion plans.

When fully completed the Center will include interpretive areas that represent the major historical periods important in the development of the West. Sites for a Native American Village, Mountain Man Rendezvous Fort, Military Encampment, Cattle Ranch, Pioneer Settlement and Frontier Town will be added. Each area will combine historical re-enactors, craftsmen and musicians, to help each historical period come alive.

In addition, the Center will incorporate a 2,000-seat outdoor amphitheater, a Welcome/Hospitality Center and areas for food and entertainment. Each year you will see new sites develop and evolve as they are built. Come and watch us grow.

The Jensen Historical Farm

Open mid-May to mid-October, the Jensen Historical Farm offers visitors a nostalgic opportunity to explore a real working farm with horse-drawn equipment, set in the year 1917. You can participate in the daily routines of life on a Western farm. Try your hand at milking the cows, churning the butter, feeding the animals, shocking barley and stacking hay in the barn or just taking an enjoyable wagon ride around the farm. You can see threshing done with the 1911 steam-driven thresher, watch large draft horses work the fields, smell food cooking on a wood stove in the farm house, or join in a game of farm ball. The Jensen Living Historical Farm site includes a historic farmhouse, summer kitchen, barn, smokehouse, root cellar, blacksmith shed and an array of farm animals.
