In 1996, Cheryl Fleet guided jeep tours through the red rocks of Sedona, Ariz., and about every two hours she saw a new co-ed group of visitors. She noticed, though, a different dynamic a group was all women. Strangers to each other just two hours early, women bonded easily and often met for lunch after a tour. She noticed that quiet women, who likely have said little in a co-ed group, had plenty to share. But that's no excuse to stay at home. Web sites specializing in women's travel offer a host of opportunities, from luxury travel to rugged outdoor adventures. Most of the sites were founded by women for women, and many seek to create a safe environment that allows women to form bonds of friendship while seeing the world.
