Madawaska Kanu Centre Offers Active Women a Chance to Paddle with Peers

BARRY’S BAY, Ontario - A week (or weekend) of women on the whitewater of the Madawaska River awaits active women in June and July this year. Madawaska's Women's Week will feature a women’s week of whitewater kayaking and canoeing, daily yoga, massage and nutrition classes. An afternoon of wine and cheese tastings is also included during the week-long class, which run from June 29-July 3. This season Madawaska offers a weekend course for women June 27-28. This follows the initial offering of the Women’s Weeks which attracted 25 women to Women’s Week in 2008. Price for the week, which includes all meals and indoor lodging is $1,085 (Canadian), or $990 for all meals, instruction and a camping spot near the lodge. The weekend course costs $440 for a camping spot at $470 for a place in the lodge. Madawaska is the oldest school in the world for kayaking, getting its start in 1972. The cliental for the lodge is 40 percent American and they average over 2,000 students per year. In addition to first class cuisine, on-site massage therapy is available in a very safe learning environment.
