| The Most Active Way to See the Galapagos – Cruising the Islands by Day, Staying on an Island Each Night |
QUEENSTOWN, New Zealand-This year marks the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth and 150 years since his theory of evolution “On the Origin of Species” was published. ACTIVE SOUTH AMERICA’s Tortuga trip is a fantastic way to discover the Galapagos Islands for yourself. Instead of being stuck on a liveaboard or on just 1 island, you’ll snorkel, dive, hike and cycle throughout the Galapagos Islands, cruising between the multitude of stunning islands in our boat ‘Christine’ by day and staying on terra firma each night. We start with a short flight to San Cristobal Island to snorkel with seals and tame reef sharks in crystal clear water, snorkel through beautiful ocean channels and hike up an island volcano with the second largest crater in the world. We get up close to some of the most intriguing and fearless wildlife on the planet (there are no natural predators here, besides humans), with visits to tortoise breeding grounds and sea lion colonies, and share our beach time with friendly iguanas. We explore amazing lava tunnels, cycle to the local townships and visit the fascinating Charles Darwin Research Station. 10-day Tortuga trip is US$2999, includes just about everything such as accommodations, meals, guide, transportation and activities. Trips departing Sept 30-Oct 9, 2009, Oct 28 – Nov 6, 2009, Nov 11-20, 2009 as well as more dates throughout the year.
