Mission Statement

Wildland Adventures offers authentic worldwide cultural and natural history ecotourism explorations for active and inquisitive travelers. Since 1986, our journeys of personal discovery are designed for small groups, families or individuals to enrich their understanding of Earth, preserve the world's natural habitat and cultural heritage, and benefit local people.

The Wild Style

Wildland Adventure’s "wild style" of travel emphasizes creating opportunities for guests to enjoy the most authentic, in-depth and meaningful life-enhancing experiences available. Carefully crafted itineraries are led by native guides with a sensitivity to create real-world experiences in which Wildland travelers are exposed to behind-the-scenes life while simultaneously taking care of their comfort and security—two components that make up every Wildland Adventure.

The Wildland Touch

Wildland specializes in small-group adventures and custom individual itineraries. Every Wildland journey provides opportunities to include nature and culture experiences unmatched by any other company. Wildland is a preferred travel supplier for leading conservation organizations. The company considers every traveler and institution as an individual partner in creating a new style of travel that is more authentic and meaningful. The company provides:

  • Expert, first-hand knowledge by its travel consultants from frequent and extensive staff travel to each destination
  • A highly personalized approach to travel planning and personal attention to clients
  • Personal connections with local residents including indigenous communities to create heart-to-heart, mutually beneficial cross-cultural experiences
  • Longstanding support of conservation and community development in host countries.

The Wildland Value

Wildland Adventures’ small, highly experienced and specialized staff develops itineraries with the highest standard of service and distinctive accommodations offered by larger competitors, with prices significantly lower. Wildland’s expertise also provides unrivaled flexibility for adjusting itineraries to fit each client’s vision of a perfect trip. When designing trips, setting prices and consulting about travel plans, the company’s foremost concern is the experience of its travelers, not the lowest possible price.

The Wildland Guides

Wildland Adventures’ trip leaders live in the places their guests visit. These expert guides know offbeat routes, speak the native language and introduce you to their community. And they share much more than facts and figures. They invite guests into their lives, sharing their family experiences, political opinions, spiritual beliefs, and their children’s aspirations. Wildland Adventure travelers discover the legacy left by ancient ancestors by meeting the local indigenous people of today.

The Wildland Family Adventure

Wildland Adventures’ owners, Kurt and Anne Kutay, are family adventure travel experts. Their expertise is based on firsthand know-how gained by traveling with their own children along with the valuable insight gained from planning and conducting trips for hundreds of other families. Leading family travel specialists and publications recommend Wildland Adventures because of the company’s understanding and detailed attention to the special requirements of traveling with grandparents and children. The company pays special attention to matching families with children of similar ages and common interests on the same departure dates. Wildland also creates custom itineraries for private family groups.

A Touch of Wild Romance

A “Wild Style” honeymoon or anniversary is more than a laid-back romantic getaway. Wildland’s active nature honeymoons feature remote natural destinations and sacred cultural sites combined with solitude and adventure based from distinctive, well-appointed ecolodges, boutique hotels, beach bungalows, safari tent camps, or other luxurious but ecologically friendly accommodations. These one-of-a-kind excursions transform a traditional milestone into an extraordinary shared life experience.

Travelers Conservation Trust

Wildland Adventures believes that culturally and environmentally responsible tourism can be a powerful force for conservation and community development. In 1986, the company turned that belief into the Travelers Conservation Trust (TCT), a nonprofit, affiliated organization of Wildland Adventures, Inc. The Travelers Conservation Trust identifies means by which travelers can contribute to conservation and human welfare at a local level worldwide. Proceeds from Wildland Adventures trips support local, in-country conservation organizations and community development projects co-sponsored by the Travelers Conservation Trust. This travel philanthropy has generated good-will between the company and host communities so that Wildland travelers are welcomed by local hosts as friends and family instead of outsiders.

Client Predeparture Services

Travelers who are informed and prepared get much more out of their travel experience. Recognizing this, Wildland Adventures provides comprehensive, proprietary pre-departure dossiers for its guests. These packages include insight into local culture, expectations of local conditions, and tips for preparation, including health and medical information, packing lists, cross-cultural hints, complimentary maps, and flora and fauna field guides.

Additionally, Wildland Adventures provides a detailed "Know Before You Go" section for each of their worldwide destinations:

Wild Style Ecotourism

Since the inception of Wildland Adventures in 1986, ecotourism has been the company’s cornerstone. Distinguished by Conde Naste and National Geographic Adventure as one of the world’s top ecotravel outfitters, Wildland Adventures is also recommended by leading travel guidebooks (Fodors, Lonely Planet and Moon Publications), Travel and Leisure magazine, and other travel news media and nationally syndicated travel writers. Wildland Adventures creates opportunities of personal discovery in exotic natural habitats and among native cultures while protecting natural environments, preserving cultural heritage and bringing direct economic benefits to local communities.

Accommodations with Expression

Wildland Adventures carefully selects memorable accommodations in each of its locations. Whether in a mountain lodge, a boutique beach hideaway or a deluxe tent camp, Wildland Adventures’ guests enjoy lodging that embraces the ultimate expression of local style and culture—with an additional commitment to comfort and personal attention without ostentation.
